Ever since 2009’s self-titled debut album helped make all those ’90s “Twee As F*ck” buttons fashionable again, Kip Berman has been adding muscle to the music of the Pains of Being Pure at Heart. On two subsequent albums as TPOBPAH has graduated from indie-pop to indie-rock, their music lost little of the big-hearted charm that made it an attraction in the first place. And so it goes with “Anymore,” a swirling, grandiose anthem that’s the first single from the Pain of Being Pure at Heart’s fourth album, “The Echo of Pleasure” (out July 14). On the new album, Berman taps collaborators Jen Goma (A Sunny Day in Glasgow), Jacob Danish Sloan (Dream Diary) and Kelly Pratt (who plays horns for Beirut, David Byrne, St. Vincent) and works with producer Andy Savours (engineer on albums by My Bloody Valentine, the Killers, Sigur Ros and the Horrors, among others), who produced 2014’s “Days of Abandon.” Because we love false endings:
