Sweet Relief Musician’s Fund raised money for musicians in medical need on Sunday at Fonda Theatre while paying tribute to the 1980s with actors, musicians and comedians covering their favorite hits from the era. Hosted by 14-year-old Finn Wolfhard from the Netflix series “Stranger Things,” the lineup included Deap Vally, Weird Al Yankovic, The Wallows, Tenacious D, Sarah Silverman, OK Go, members of 311, Velvet Revolver, Anthrax, Slipknot, Goldfinger, Steel Panther, 5 Seconds of Summer, Taking Back Sunday, the Go-Go’s’ Jane Wiedlin, “13 Reasons Why” star Dylan Minnette. Several nods to Prince highlighted the evening, as well as covers of classics by The Cure, Huey Lewis, The Pretenders, Tommy Tutone, Guns N’ Roses, Joan Jett, Nena, Kim Wilde, Pat Benatar, The Pixies, Weezer, The Smiths and more.
