Four years into their work as Smoke Season, the collaboration between Gabrielle Wortman and Jason Rosen has yielded three EPs, a handful of videos and a growing fan base dialed in to the duo’s activism for social causes. Their upbeat new single “Good Days,” out today, is the follow-up to their 2016 EP “Ouroboros” and find the pair happily doing their balancing act between (yes, smoky) electro-soul and folk music. Saxophonist James Ragusa guests on the single, which, Wortman explains, endeavors “to capture the bittersweet feeling of remembering times that shaped you into who you are today.” It’s tricky in trying times, but “I think it’s time to go where the good days have gone,” Wortman sings over bouncy synth, and if that means still going forward, not backward, it’s an idea to embrace.
