Three-time Grammy-winners The Flaming Lips are one of the most enduring, unpredictable and globally respected bands of their generation. Their elaborate live shows feature costumes, balloons, puppets, video projections, complex lighting, giant hands, large amounts of confetti and Wayne Coyne’s signature man-sized plastic bubble, in which he traverses the audience. Before you ancients out there turn your heads and scoff at the premise of a twenty-something rock ’n’ roll goofball calling himself an old-anything, consider this: Said perpetrator, he who answers to the name Mac DeMarco, writes, records and releases an an album of his own music pretty much every calendar flip, and pretty much on his own. The Flaming Lips and Mac DeMarco are headed to the Shrine Expo Hall on Oct. 7 and the Fox Theater Pomona on Oct. 9.
