The weather was hot and the nostalgia boiling over on Saturday and Sunday as The Classic West brought heavy-hitters from rock and pop’s past to Dodger Stadium.

Hits were played and memories were made (or relived). Headlining on Saturday night, the Eagles played their first show since the 2016 passing of Glenn Frey, whose son Deacon, along with Vince Gill, filled in for him. It made for an emotional set. And Bob Seger joined the band for “Heartache Tonight.” Preceding the headliner, Steely Dan played a set with Larry Carlton filling in for the ailing Walter Becker. And Earth, Wind & Fire worked up a sweat in the late afternoon.

Fleetwod Mac headlined Saturday night, also paying tribute to Frey. Journey dedicated “Lights” to former singer Steve Perry as current vocalist Arnel Pineda held up his end of the deal on the hits. And the Doobie Brothers dedicated a song to the absent Michael McDonald.
