Make Music Pasadena didn’t happen this year, but the spirit of that free music festival lives on, if scaled down, in Intersection: A Playhouse District Festival. The mini-festival, all-ages and free, goes off Saturday, Aug. 26, at the corner of Colorado Boulevard and El Molino in the Rose City — the site of one of the main stages at past MMPs.

Kan Wakan, whose triple-LP “Phantasmagoria” will be released Oct. 13, will headline a bill that includes the Dead Ships, Givers & Takers, Racquet, Susy Sun and more. It runs from 4 to 10 p.m.

The festival will also feature art activities (mural-making, chalk painting, virtual reality and workshops for all ages), food and drink and a walking tour. A host of Pasadena institutions are involved in the event, including the Armory Center for the Arts, Pasadena Museum of History, Pasadena Museum of California Art, Side Street Projects, Southern California Children’s Museum, Surrogate Galleries, Vroman’s Bookstore, Light Bringer Project and more.
