The angsty charm of L.A. quartet Fime has its roots in the loveable crunch of bands like Weezer and the jagged glory of indie-rock torchbearers like Pixies and Pavement. It’s the work of Bay Area pals Beto Brakmo (vocals/guitar) and Eric Promani (vocals/drums), who moved to L.A. four years ago and later joined up with bassist-singer Maxine Garcia and drummer Chase Cook. In 2016, they released an EP, “Dining,” and have a full-length, “Outside,” in the works.

Oh, and they’re dog people. The single “Little Princess” pays homage to Sandy, Brakmo’s childhood pet. If director Hailey Ruffner’s video for the song doesn’t make you want to scratch Kiwi, Gus or Momo (the stars of the show) behind the ears, then we don’t know you. The video, simply, is all about “dogs and [their] happy-go-lucky outlook on the world,” the band says. That suits the song, they add: “Simple and fun, and the melody is easy and catchy.”

“Outside,” produced by Scott Leahy of Seawolf and One AM Radio, is due to arrive this fall.
