If 2017 be a cold-sweated nightmare thus far, East Los hero Hope Sandoval and the Warm Inventions softly beckon us to equilibrium with proper rest and tears in their latest single “Sleep,” from their forthcoming EP “Son of a Lady.”

The Warm Inventions, in case you’ve been walking too long in the bright sunshine, is the Mazzy Star singer/lyricist’s project with My Bloody Valentine drummer Colm Ó Cíosóig since 2000. After two EPs and two albums, the duo’s original respective dark, shoegaze groups reformed and released new albums. However, Sandoval and Ó Cíosóig reassured Warm Inventions fans that they were still going steady musically with their latest album “Until the Hunter,” released last year under their own Tendril Tales label. That album featured a collaboration with Kurt Vile (who, like Sandoval, is performing at October’s Desert Daze festival in Joshua Tree).

The three-song “Son of a Lady” is out Sept. 15, with a bonus track available with a vinyl purchase.
