Soul singer Charles Bradley, who had returned to touring this year after a bout with stomach cancer last fall, has canceled his upcoming tour dates after the illness returned.

According to a statement from the 68-year-old’s publicist, Bradley had begun to feel run down during recent dates, and now has found the cancer has spread to his liver. “I love all of you out there that made my dreams come true,” Bradley said. “When I come back, I’ll come back strong, with God’s love. With God’s will, I’ll be back soon.”

Included in the canceled shows were scheduled appearances Oct. 1 at the Music Tastes Good festival in Long Beach and Oct. 7 at the Santa Barbara Polo & Wine Festival.

Bradley received a hero’s welcome in June when he played Arroyo Seco Weekend in Pasadena, telling the crowd that it was their love that inspired him to carry on the battle. Bradley’s most recent album, “Changes,” his third, came out in 2016.
