Brian Wilson and company closed the book Saturday night on the “Pet Sounds 50th Anniversary World Tour” — almost two years of concerts celebrating the 1966 release of the Beach Boys 11th album. Saturday’s show, at the Pacific Amphitheatre in Costa Mesa, featured a playback of the historic album and a host of other Beach Boys favorites.

Wilson was supported largely by a 10-person band, several of whom took the lead on songs, including: Al Jardine on “Susie Cincinnati,” “Little Deuce Coupe,” and “Shut Down;” his son Matt Jardine on “Don’t Worry Baby,” “I Know There’s An Answer,” and “Caroline, No;” and guest Blondie Chaplin on “Feel Flows,” “Wild Honey,” and “Sail On Sailor.” Chaplin would also come out throughout the set to provide background vocals and percussion.

Wilson was a man of few words during show, simply complimenting his band. On his website, Wilson, 75, marked the end of the tour by thanking the audiences as well. “I want to thank all my fans for coming out to see our ‘Pet Sounds’ shows,” he wrote. “We toured all over the world for the last two years and I’ll never forget the love you brought to our shows. Thanks to Al and Blondie and the greatest band in the world — it was an unbelievable experience.”
