What to say about Yelle’s takeover of the downtown club Resident last week? It was four sold-out nights of happy feet. And how do you say happy feet in French?
With singer Julie Budet in fine form vocally and acrobatically, the dance-pop outfit were in the midst of taking their act to small clubs across North America, doing multiple nights at many stops. They performed their familiar singles — including “Completement Fou,” “Safari Disco Club” and “Ce Jeu” — as well as teasing their forthcoming fourth album, due in the new year. Included was the new single “Romeo,” much to the delight of the packed room.
Nineteen-year-old French musician Lewis OfMan kicked the night off.
