“L.A. is our home away from home,” Maja Ivarsson of the Sounds told the enthusiastic crowd Monday night at the Fonda Theatre, where the Swedish band renewed their love affair with the city. It was the second of the quintet’s two-night stand at the Fonda in support of their new EP “Tales That We Tell.”

Besides songs old and new, the long-running new wavers had other tales — like the memory of playing their first show at the Troubadour in 2003 after the release of their debut “Living in America.” During the show, a fan gave her a Swedish flag, which she wrapped around herself, and later a shirtless fan made his way through the crowd, riding atop somebody’s shoulders. Sure, the shirt came flying on stage later.

L.A.’s Fitness, who just released their “Aggroculture” EP, preceded the headliners with a set that included a juggler and a break so main man Kenny Carkett could meditate. Wisconsin’s electro-pop GGOOLLDD opened the night.
