Almost three years to the day since their last appearance in Los Angeles, Toronto dance-punk duo Death From Above delivered a scorching performance on Wednesday night at the Novo. With singer-drummer Sebastien Grainger adding a bit of raillery and bassist Jesse Keeler typically stoic, the duo inspired a mosh pit almost immediately. DFA was touring behind their new album “Outrage! Is Now,” the follow-up to their acclaimed 2014 release “The Physical World.” Besides new songs like “Never Swim Alone” and “Freeze Me,” the show’s highlights included Grainger leading the crowd in belting out deep breaths at the beginning of “Trainwreck 1979,” mimicking the subtle sample grabbed from a Canadian sporting goods commercial.

Fellow Toronto rockers the Beaches opened the show.
