“This is the biggest show we’ve ever played, ever,” singer Alaina Moore told the crowd at the sold-out Fonda Theatre on Thursday night, drawing a huge roar of approval from a crowd clinging to every note and word from her duo with Patrick Riley, Tennis. And there were plenty of both at the concert — Moore copped to “feeling chatty tonight,” and she, Riley and mates played songs from their two 2017 releases, the album “Yours Conditionally” (their fourth, released in March) and the EP they released last week, “We Can Die Happy.”

Both releases came on Tennis’ own label, Mutually Detrimental, which, Moore explained came to be after some soul-searching (and a sailing excursion) during which they tried to figure out who and what they were as a band, and what the whole concept of “success” meant.

Of the new song “I Miss That Feeling,” Moore said it came from experiencing panic attacks — including one on the day of the first-ever Tennis show. It was one of 10 songs in their 18-song performance that was released this year, including eight from the album. They did play “Cape Dory,” the title track of their 2011 debut album, during the encore, and touched on 2012’s “Young & Old” by playing “Origins” and “My Better Self.”

In dim, moody lighting, Portland synth-poppers Wild Ones opened the night.
