► David Thomas, mastermind of the long-running avant-punk Pere Ubu, has been hospitalized with an undisclosed ailment, and the band has canceled the remainder of the West Coast tour, including two dates scheduled next week at the Echo.

No other information was immediately available about the 64-year-old’s condition. A post on the band’s Facebook page said: “It’s with regret we have had to cancel our live shows on the West Coast of the U.S. David insisted on continuing the tour but his doctors have insisted he stays where he is for the moment. We will post a further update soon.”

Giraffage, whose postponed his Wednesday night gig at the Fonda Theatre on the morning of the show, has rescheduled it for Jan. 24. The announcement cited “unforeseen production difficulties with my rig,” adding that “this new stage set-up is by far the coolest way I’ve toured and want to make sure my fans in L.A. are able to get to experience it.”

Curls (Christopher Owens and friends) have canceled their final L.A. residency show, scheduled for Friday at the Moroccan Lounge. No reason was given in the announcement.
