Like the song’s classic rock vibe in general, the video for Doug DeLuca’s single “Hit Your Mark” harks to the days when door-to-door vacuum cleaner salesmen would do just about anything to close a deal. The shag carpeting in this sharply done period piece directed by Andy Koeger and Henry Drayton looks early- to mid-1970s; the salesman’s eagerness is timeless. When the potential customer shows a little too much interest in the product, though, the scenario becomes a mess that even an amazing vacuum won’t clean up.

“Hit Your Mark” is the title track of the forthcoming EP by DeLuca, an East Coast native who, after several years in New York held back by his own self-doubt, moved to L.A. in 2015 to pursue music. He’s been working with producer-engineer Louis Bartolini, with two more singles arriving in early 2018 before the EP lands in March. “All you get in a lifetime baby is / A shot in the dark,” he sings, drawing on his own experience. Take aim.
