The world has gotten deafening, literally and figuratively. Baltimore-bred duo Wye Oak is getting louder with it, although in a way that doesn’t make you want to turn down the volume. Today, Jenn Wasner and Andy Stack unveiled the title track to their forthcoming fifth album “The Louder I Call, the Faster It Runs.” It’s out April 6 via Merge Records. The song a buoyant four minutes propelled by a frisky backbeat and strafed by synths; if reading your news feed doesn’t make you nervous, this will.

The duo said the album emerged from short recording sessions in the respective cities where they now live — Wasner in Durham, N.C., and Stack in Marfa, Texas. The album news came with the announcement of the Wye Oak’s spring and summer tour dates, the latter of which brings them to L.A. in July.
