With an introduction by Bedouine and guest vocals from Lucius, the Grant James-directed video for Jonathan Wilson’s “There’s A Light” uses hand-made analog effects to boost this performance video to dizzy dimensions. Filming at the Lodge Room, James employed obsolete Japanese broadcast cameras to capture the band as if they’re playing on a foreign TV show. The uplifting song is full of encouraging lyrics, love of the land, self and pretty much should have you waving an American flag and hugging strangers by the time it’s through. Wilson says “There’s A Light” is one of his favorites off “Rare Birds,” his third solo release out now on Bella Union Records. “It was written late in the sessions, the idea came to me that I needed an anthem of pure positivity,” he says. “The point was to put these words of peace love and hope in the mouths of whoever sang along. The track you hear is the first take we played of the song, ever.”
