Eight months after leaving behind his signature HARD events, promoter Gary Richards is back in the saddle.

The veteran impresario and DJ will debut a new festival, All My Friends, on Aug. 18 and 19 at ROW DTLA, a commercial space at 777 Alameda St. No lineup has been announced yet, but the fest promises an “extravaganza of what is cool and current in hip-hop, R&B and dance music.” It’s something of a full circle for Richards, who got his start doing underground raves in downtown warehouses.

Richards built events such as HARD Summer into major players in the EDM world. Concert giant Live Nation eventually bought the HARD brand, and Richards departed last August to ally with LiveStyle.

All My Friends (abbreviated as “AMFAMFAMF”) last week announced a series of club nights at downtown’s recently renovated Globe Theatre, Matthew Dear (May 4), Maya Jane Coles (May 11), Gaiser (June 1), Dennis Ferrer (June 21) and Mathew Jonson (July 28). (Ticket info.)

As for the festival, early-bird tickets go on sale at 9 a.m. Thursday here.
