Soft Streak

Soft Streak is the name for the electro-pop ministrations of Tori Schachne and Colton Toy, pals since college, vintage music obsessives and, when they are not sequestered in the studio working, moviephiles. The L.A. duo — she with a background in theater, he in classical music — have written and produced for other artists, and they only recently decided to work as a team.

Their first single is the nimble synth-pop come-on, “Ride,” a playfully naughty track in which Schachne sings, “I’ll be your get-away car.”

“[It’s] a song that I wrote inspired by a movie I couldn’t stop thinking about,” she explains. “It’s about desperately needing a change from your current situation and not caring about the risk involved in making the change. Or maybe you’re even looking for something slightly dangerous because at least that would be interesting. Action without caring about the consequence.”

Soft Streak keeps it under the speed limit here. They plan to release an EP this summer.
