Jordan Feller met Marc Gilfry in 2012. He called him up four years later to sing on demos Feller intended to record with female vocalists. They liked what they heard so much the two began collaborating as Neil Frances, which led to their first singles, last year’s “Dumb Love” and “Back To What I Know.” The guys are almost ready to release their debut EP, “Took a While.” The first cut to surface is “Coming Back Around,” a deep thought embedded in a disco house churner that builds off an opening drum break before expanding like ripples in a pool. It’s warm and full of bubbles that glide over the piano licks. The duo says β€œit explores the different personas we adopt in an effort to be taken seriously. In today’s world, it’s increasingly easy to project images of ourselves that might not reflect who we are. However, maybe we don’t know who we truly are β€” instead coming back around to the idea that the only consistency is the eternal search for meaning.”
