No matter how you spin them, break-ups are tough. If you’re gong through one right now, Bay Ledges’ “Wherever You Sleep” can be your shoulder to cry on, but one that will get you back out on the dance floor. “I like the idea of writing about heartbreak but having the music feel optimistic. Dancing while you’re feeling sad,” the band’s singer, Zach Hurd, says of their latest single, “Wherever You Sleep.” One thing’s for sure, the psychedelic disco style of this song will make you want to move. The song is just over three minutes of warped, pinging synths, a poppy melody and steady drum beat as an invitation to dance. “Gotta get you out of my head / Sleeping on your side of the bed,” Hurd sings, trying to get over a recent break-up. The song will appear on the band’s forthcoming EP, coming in November.

Made in collaboration with Miro Mackie (producer-songwriter-engineer known for his work with The Neighbourhood and St. Vincent), “Wherever You Sleep” brings a certain wistful self-awareness to its clear longing of a lost love.

Of the track, Hurd explains, “I wrote this song a year ago with Joni Fatora and came back to it a couple months ago when I was in the studio with Miro Mackie. A lot had changed for me in a year. I was in a relationship that had ended and musically things have been evolving with the project. I came back and decided to rewrite the verses in a way that spoke more directly to what I’d been feeling. … It’s a song that’s been through it’s own evolution.”
