With one toe in the hip-hop world, a foot in EDM and a heart that simply beats stone-cold (and stoned) party rock, L.A. duo Magic Bronson have been spreading their booming bass and lyrical landmines since 2013, when Michael Nicastro and Matt Lieberman wandered out of the Valley loaded for bear. Their stylistic potpourri is held together by one quality: the shrewdness with which they mix their bass-synth-and-vocal concoctions. If there’s a Gospel of Clever, Nicastro is shout-singing it.

“Electrify” is the duo’s latest single from their EP “Evil Plans.” It’s a banger “inspired by a relationship that was very intense and all-encompassing,” the duo says, and the “wanted feelings of excitement and infatuation that come with falling in love along with the unwanted feelings of fear and self-doubt that things won’t work out and everything could fall apart at any moment.” The single is dissimilar in tone to “Evil Plans,” released last month, but that’s the point with Nicastro and Lieberman, whose music has turned up in some unusual places (including an ad for Kendall and Kylie Jenner’s fashion line). You never know what will set them off, or where they’ll end up, or whether it will make them “Nervous.”

Since their 2014 full-length “Wildlife,” Magic Bronson has released nothing but singles. That ends on Oct. 26, when the “Evil Plans” EP arrives.
