Gunner Sixx was one of the creative forces behind Figs Vision, the avant-garde audiovisual explorers who had a good thing going but disintegrated after just one album, “Mother” (which, like their excellent videos, has now disappeared from the internet). In 2017, Sixx (the son of Mötley Crüe’s Nikki) segued to the experimental synth-pop project the Put Off.

The songwriter, producer and visual artist strips away the layers of artifice on his new EP, “Matter of Time,” released under his own name. In a tentative but earnest voice, Sixx injects a little funk and soul into off-kilter songs of regret and the often-futile struggle to find balance. As he probably knows all too well, the latter process is ongoing.
