Singer-songwriter Caitlin Notey possesses a big, evocative voice and broad tastes in classic soul and Americana to go along with it. The L.A. native, reared in Topanga Canyon and schooled at USC where she assembled her band Huxlee, puts her vocals and influences to good use on “22,” the new single from the sextet’s forthcoming EP “Teammate.” It’s the second studio release from the band, following up the 2013 EP “Bloom,” which included the song “Still” that helped her earn the BMI Foundation’s John Lennon Scholarship. The band includes her Class of ’14 mates Cary Singer (guitar), Joe Scolari (bass), Mac Sinise (drums), A.J. Novak (percussion) and Nick Chuba (banjo, guitar, programming) — check out the Killers’ cover Notey does with Chuba here. Straddling the folk and pop worlds, Notey and her pipes could go anywhere — she is, after all, just 22.
