Citing 1960s Pink Floyd and 13th Floor Elevators to everything that came from Creation Records in the 1990s as their common ground, Talk In Tongues loves big psychedelic music. Out of respect for those crazy performance videos of the past that evoked kaleidoscopic vision, as if the camera itself were on acid, the Los Angeles band has delivered a colorful, swirling, doubling, tripling, melting music video for “While Everyone Was Waiting,” directed by Izaac Enciso. If your vestibular system is a little sensitive, proceed with caution. The song comes from Talk In Tongues’ debut LP, “Alone With a Friend,” which came out May 19 via Fairfax Records and quickly shot to the top of many “best albums of the year so far” lists. They’re wrapping up a tour now with Blonde Redhead, and next week they’re back in town to open for Veruca Salt. Which may seem an interesting pairing, but live Talk in Tongues is more brash than their record suggests. Double your fun.
