Video: VOWWS, ‘The Great Sun’

Self-proclaimed “industrial pop demons” VOWWS sink their claws into Los Angeles twice this week. Although the duo met in Sydney studying music composition, they now call our sunny city and local label Cleopatra Records home, ensuring that a heavy pulse of black continuously undulates beneath the colorful, seedy belly of Hollywood lights. Darkness and desolation aside, VOWWS have a sense of humor, as evidenced by the karaoke-inspired video for “The Great Sun,” complete with Japanese lyrics scrolling across the screen. This song appears on the album of the same name, which features guest appearances by Gary Numan (see also video for “Losing Myself In You”), Thor Harris (SWANS) and Beki Aldridge (The Mavis’s), and should have hit stands this summer but will likely come out in the fall, according to a message dropped on our pillow last night, next to a rose, by a vampire, who wrote the words in blood.
