What if Talking Heads were millenials, self-aware and culturally savvy, making music in 2015 with an eye toward 2525? They would be De Lux, the L.A. dance-punk duo whose sophomore album “Generation” provides more than enough fodder to dance your neuroses away. Sean Guerin and Isaac Franco took to the streets of Long Beach in an ice cream truck for the video for “Oh Man the Future” — come for Eric Coleman’s nifty direction, stay for Guerin’s brilliant soliloquy. Guerin told the Times, where the video premiered, that he found lyrical inspiration by listening to performance artist Karen Finley. Not to suggest that such intellectual heft is rare in dance music, but the only way the ice cream truck metaphor could’ve been better would be if De Lux were trying to sell popsicles on the streets of Minneapolis in January.
