Anyway, sudden psych-rock gods Tame Impala played what by all accounts was a transcendent show at Hollywood Forever Cemetery on Thursday night (coverage to come), but earlier in the day, this emerged: L.A. trio HAIM, along with their ace producer Ariel Rechtshaid, released a rework of Tame Impala’s glacial ballad “’Cause I’m a Man,” giving it that glossy ’90s ooze the sisters seem to love. On their Facebook page, Danielle Haim explains she fell for the Aussie band when she saw them at a festival in Japan in 2009 while touring as Jenny Lewis’ guitar player and has loved them ever since. “Needless to say, when we were asked to do this remix we jumped at the chance,” she writes. “But we’ve never really done a ‘remix’ before so we decided to put out our own spin on the song.” If you go into it knowing you’ll experience some gender confusion, it’s better.
