Zinzi Edmundson and Jesse Kivel of Kisses

Kisses have unleashed “Control,” the second single from their album, “Rest in Paradise,” out Oct. 9 on Hit City USA. For their third album, the band moved away from an overly conceptual approach. This time, they’ve simply chosen the best songs Jesse Kivel wrote over the last three years and slapped them together. And what he does best, as exemplified in “Control,” is craft cyclical chill disco-pop pop. The other cool thing they did was realize a dream to produce their music with a full live disco band, for which they enlisted Andrew Raposo and members of his band, Midnight Magic. Kivel and bandmate Zinzi Edmundson have long been a duo, but since releasing their last album, “Kids in LA,” they got hitched and made a baby, thus becoming a trio, so, for them, the new album reflects optimistic feelings on what the future will hold. And that includes but is not limited to diapers, tantrums, and teaching a kid how to use Pro Tools. (But no that doesn’t mean there’s a song about wiping baby butt.)
