Warning: “All Your Favorite Bands” might inspire you to hug the nearest person, tree, or animal. Hopefully, you’re not standing next to a cactus or a rabid dog or someone with really bad armpit smell when you watch this video. In the spirit of friendship, the video for the latest single and title track off Dawes‘ fourth album, “All Your Favorite Bands,” features footage shot by friends from other bands lip-synching to the song and ends with singer Taylor Goldsmith singing with the children’s chorus from McKinley Elementary in Davenport, Iowa. This country-fried song is so warm, fuzzy and friendly it almost inspires loneliness. Oh, the musician’s life with nothing but Dawes’ new album to keep them warm at night on the tour bus, if they’re lucky, or a crappy motel if they’re a little less lucky. It’s a rather beautiful song that instantly feels like you’ve heard it ten times, beginning gently and catapulting in the right place with a triumphant, winsome instrumental. The album should be experienced from top to bottom, as Taylor, Griffin Goldsmith, Wylie Gelber, and Tay Strathairn deliver tasteful and heartfelt performances throughout. Produced by David Rawlings at Woodland Sound Studios in Nashville, TN, all nine songs take the listener on a sweet melancholy ride. Dust off that cowboy hat, crack open a frosty cheap beer, and explore your feelings, right now. Then head over to the band’s interactive website and share music by your favorite bands.
