Premiere: Lady Low, ‘Burning Like a Fever’

On their new single “Burning Like a Fever,” Lady Low — those black-dressed slingers of torch songs — turn up the temperature considerably, suggesting the next whirlwind romance might be only a touch away. The L.A. sextet, who debuted late last year with a cool cover of the Vibrators’ 37-year-old “Baby Baby,” was founded by veteran rocker Jimmy Sweet; he’s the guy in the leather jacket who looks like he talked his way into joining a girl group. On the new single, Sweet and his baritone give way on lead vocals to Eden Lee, one of two singers/multi-instrumentalists who join him in Lady Low’s three-pronged harmonies. (Shanel Chavers recently replaced Rachel Maxann as the other.) With the string trio of Kaitlin Wolfberg, Corinne Olsen and Mia Maria Siler fanning the flames, “Burning Like a Fever” builds from slightly smoldering to a conflagration of “Ahhhhhhhh.” My, my, child, your forehead is burning.
