There’s something to be said for an old-school stomp, and Vicious Kicks’ new single conjures up any number of world-famous blues-rock duos, only with a little hair metal thrown in. “Street Called Mayhem” represents a slightly different avenue for the songwriting and production duo of Nzo Tiano and Ray Giron. It’s more guitar slam than dance-funk jam, which was the groove laid out by Vicious Kicks on their debut single “Workaholic.” Here, Tiano and Giron aren’t talking about riots in the streets but chaos in the “digital space.” As reasons to bang your head go, it’s a pretty good one. The duo originally had planned to release an EP this year, but they’re setting their sights higher: Their full-length, tentatively titled “Animatronics,” is due to arrive next spring.
