Ears Wide Open: Dead Right

0

If Mary J. Blige were just getting into the music scene, had a cleaner tone and decided to pursue the ever-evolving synth soundscape, we’d have Dead Right. Well, we’d have vocalist Graham Knoxx at least, but certainly not in a nutshell. Knoxx released a solo EP titled “Echo” in 2012, but it wasn’t until she reunited with powerhouse producer Alex Goose (Target, Revlon, Calvin Klein) that things seemed to click again. (They worked together on “Dollar” back in 2010.) With Knoxx’s sweet yet malleable vocals and Goose’s smooth beats on “Rising Tide,” Dead Right may be one of many boy-girl synth-pop duos, but they’ve got a touch of glamour that gives them a sleek edge. Whether or not they’ll be this generation’s Glass Candy is uncertain, but these disco undertones are calling out fancy feet everywhere.
