The new single from Big Harp is like a football two-minute drill — onrushing synths, a hurry-up pace, a little roughing-the-guitar and, finally, a boy/girl chorus that finds the end zone. “It’s a Shame” represents another nifty piece of gamesmanship from the L.A.-based husband-and-wife team of Chris Senseney and Stefanie Drootin-Senseney (along with drummer Daniel Ocanto). From their more folky beginnings on 2011’s “White Hat,” Big Harp birthed an album of sharp, observational indie-blues with 2013’s “Chain Letters,” with Senseney sounding like a wizened narrator who’s driven thousands of miles. He’s an Omaha native, so maybe he has. Anyway, both of those albums came out on Saddle Creek; the new single, produced by John Congleton, comes out today as a 7-inch on Fat Possum.
