“Make Our Own Way,” the indie-pop nugget that kicks off Little Brutes’ “Desire” EP, is a bright little affirmation that if we stay true to ourselves and embrace the small pleasures, “we’ll have it like we want it,” as singer Rachael Cantu suggests. The song was featured on NBC’s new “One Big Happy,” which stars Elisha Cuthbert, and the actress exudes that titular joie de vivre in director Lindsey Byrnes’ music video. “I wanted to make a video that feels hopeful,” Byrnes explained to The Muse, where the video premiered, “and makes the viewer feel like they are experiencing that pure moment when you are in love and you feel like you are the only two people on earth.” Little Brutes, the merging of the talents of Cantu and songwriter/producer Harlan Silverman, released the EP in January, and even at just five songs, it’ll give you, at the very least, a medium-sized happy.
