About

Buzz Bands LA was founded in September 2008 as a vehicle for the continuing adventures in music of Kevin Bronson, who the previous six years had authored the Buzz Bands column and blog for the Los Angeles Times.

Bronson has a history of tipping readers to myriad unsigned artists such as Silversun Pickups, Cold War Kids, the 88, the Little Ones and the Airborne Toxic Event, and the new Buzz Bands LA continues that tradition, scouting L.A. and environs for the most promising emerging artists, providing crisp interviews and perspective, offering capsulized album and show reviews and touting the best new videos and upcoming shows. His collection of press badges includes the Coachella, Detour, Lollapalooza and SXSW festivals, as well as the Warped Tour. In 2010, Buzz Bands LA was chosen to curate the KCRW-sponsored Also I Like to Rock series at the Hammer Museum.

Bronson, a graduate of Bradley University, is a former sports writer and editor and graphic designer who worked in the newspaper business for 35 years.

In 2011, Seraphina Lotkhamnga joined Buzz Bands LA as a staff writer. A former associate editor for BeatCrave, for whom she tracked the pulse of music in L.A. and nationally, Lotkhamnga is a graduate of Michigan State University, a festival veteran and a tireless writer.

I think you are one of the last great music journalists, and that is a huge accomplishments. You see through the crap and help out bands because of your sheer love of music. My garage/punk/blues band thats like a combo of the stooges, black sabbath, and the gun club, if that makes sense. dirty old pro punk blues garage rock n roll. anyways, we have been getting some notice and Im going to be sending you a demo of our past work, as we are currently working on our new album. Keep up the great work Kevin, been a follower for a long time, and will continue to be!you keep hope for the underground LA music scene, at least for the “REAL MUSICIANS” THAT IS :)
