The artist formerly known as s//p is now Slip, and in his new track, “The Patient,” his agitation is anesthetized, just as we are under this oppressive heatwave.
The latest stadium-ready single from the L.A. quartet is a sensory assault of synth, guitar and stream-of-consciousness lyrics about personal renewal. Volume up.
Post-millenial malaise, working-class poverty, creative frustrations — all those grievances are aired in “$600,” the first song to emerge from the new band Fakers, comprised of well-known agitators on L.A.’s indie scene. The dense guitar-, synth- and harmony-drenched songs from the L.A. quartet’s debut “Tolerance” sounded huge in the reverb-friendly room, a setting that also benefited openers Vanaprasta and Black Apples. In all, a celebratory […]
Some of the new songs from L.A. quintet Vanaprasta are liable to make you come out of your shoes, if recent live performances are any indication. Promise. But “Flash Flood Warning” is not among them.
