Top pre-New Year’s Eve places to rock it tonight:
‣ London five-piece the Duke Spirit [previewed here], joined by L.A. trio Crash Kings and Orange County’s Free Lions, visit the Roxy. Above, one of four sessions Liela Moss and crew did for Nic Harcourt’s LiveBuzz [watch all of them here].
‣ The Growlers headline the Echo, with Grand Elegance and Gantez Warrior supporting.
Not to mention: Terminal Twilight at the Satellite (f/k/a Spaceland); Repeater and Adam Bones at the Silverlake Lounge; Owl at the Viper Room; Manhattan Murder Mystery at Pehrspace; and a benefit “battle show” at the Smell, with Luna Is Honey vs. Tremellow, Narwhal Party vs. Gestapo Khazi, Peter Pants vs. Traps, Ps and Mock Duck vs. THErapist.
Obligatory promotional bit: I will be DJing the Roxy show tonight. Stop by and say hi.
I love, love, love The Duke Spirit but I haven’t been to The Roxy since the 90s or so… Nothing personal but they don’t normally have music that I like.
Also, they need to dump ticketmaster for ticketweb (same company) or any of the other less expensive options. $23.50 + $7.50 fees is ridiculous. That plus parking in West Hollywood always makes me reluctant to make the trek over there.
I suspect there will be tix available at the door. Yeah, parking has always been a thorn in my wallet too, but $5 (on most nights) directly across the street isn’t bad.
