The new album by the Cars is fantastic. So Blondie is getting a second wind too … Why not? Principals Debbie Harry, Chris Stein, and Clem Burke announced today that “Panic of Girls” – their ninth album (and first since “The Curse of Blondie” eight years ago) – will come out in September. The video for the four-on-the-floor single “Mother,” a nod to the West 14th Street nightclub, features the 65-year-old Harry belting it out for the kids. Today’s announcement says the new album will offer a song in French, a cover of the reggae hit “Girlie, Girlie,” a cover of Beirut’s “Sunday Smile” and a guest turn from the indie-rock band’s Zach Condon.
