Video: Vetiver, ‘Wonder Why’

Although songwriter Andy Cabic has been known to engage in some woozy psychedelia on Vetiver‘s earlier work (earning the band opening slots for Devendra Banhart and Vashti Bunyan), next week’s release of “The Errant Charm” via Sub Pop will present a new skin that has shed some of the folk for a brighter pop tone. Cabic has always played with boundaries between the two genres, but the latest single titled “Wonder Why” off the forthcoming album is the most straightforward pop yet for the San Francisco-based band. Piano shines while it also serves an immediate optimistic thread throughout the tune, and it makes a fitting soundtrack for a clip which shows us the city literally coming to life.
