‣ Surfer Blood, their new album “Pythons” out last month, head up the first of the free Twilight Concert Series shows at the Santa Monica Pier. Terraplane Sun supports.
‣ Indie-rockers So Many Wizards help kick off the “Roaring Nights at the L.A. Zoo” series, three Thursdays live music, DJs, comedy, food trucks and, of course, animal encounters.
‣ Ximena Sarinana joins DJs from KCRW in the courtyard at the Hammer Museum for the second in the free “Music for Better Living” series, a celebration of the current exhibition, “A. Quincy Jones: Building for Better Living.”
‣ Incan Abraham headlines the Echo on a night that also features Cotillon and Reno’s Memory Motel (plus the Buzz Bands LA DJs).
‣ And the Lightning in a Bottle festival gets underway with the first of five nights of performances at Lake Skinner near Temecula.
