‣ North Carolina folk rockers the Avett Brothers have a new album on the way – “Magpie and the Dandelion” will be out next week, and the band plays the Shrine Auditorium tonight, with Nicholas David opening.
‣ State to State and the Vim Dicta head up a big night for local rock at Viper Room. The lineup, presented by The Independent FM (with Buzz Bands LA on hand to DJ) also features Echoes de Luxe and Feast of Fetus.
‣ “An Evening With Steve Kilbey and Greg Dulli” will see the frontmen of the Church and Afghan Whigs, respectively, performing stripped-down songs from each of their catalogs.
‣ U.K. singer-songwriter Tom Odell visits the El Rey Theatre behind his debut album “Long Way Down,” with Vance Joy supporting.
‣ Liverpool-based singer-songwriter Dan Croll headlines the Troubadour, supported by Wardell.
‣ And Gogol Bordello and Crystal Antlers wind up their three-night stay at the Fonda Theatre.
