A jam-packed Thursday of shows:
‣ And now for something completely different … well, pretty different, anyway: Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros’ Big Top starts its four-day run in at Los Angeles State Historic Park, with music, performance art, comedy, circus-type performers a farmer’s market and more. The L.A. folk-rockers will perform in the round, and the musical bill also includes Fool’s Gold and My Hawaii.
‣ NYC electro-pop duo MS MR headlines the first of two sold-out nights the Troubadour behind their debut album “Secondhand Rapture” – L.A.’s Wildcat! Wildcat! opens. That’s MS MR’s video for “Think of You,” above.
‣ L.A. duo Boardwalk celebrates the release of its debut album (out this week on Stones Throw) with a show at the Center for the Arts Eagle Rock. Henry Wolfe and Mister Goodnight support.
‣ Oregon-based indie ensemble Typhoon headlines the Satellite behind its new album “Whit Lighter,” with Wild Ones opening.
‣ Sweden’s Little Dragon, working on a follow-up to 2011’s “Ritual Union,” visits the El Rey Theatre, with SZA opening. [Check out SZA’s “Julia” and “Teen Spirit” from Wednesday.]
‣ Detroit’s ADULT holds forth at the Echoplex, supported by Flaamingos and Soft Metals.
‣ And at the Echo, it’s cool evening of local rock, with Hindu Pirates, Santoros, Froth and the Bay Area’s Cool Ghouls.
