Video: Ida Maria, ’69’

Norwegian rocker Ida Maria, who arrived with a bang in 2008 with her debut “Fortress Round My Heart,” has spent the past year-plus regrouping, some of that time in Los Angeles. Her second album, 2010’s “Katla,” went all-in for a big, polished rock sound and didn’t connect, and then the singer-songwriter battled addiction problems, she said, that landed her in the hospital in mid-2012. This June, we saw her preview some new songs at Los Globos – no matter the production on her albums, she’s always raw and vicious live. And now she has released the new album “Love Conquers All” via Cash Music. Written and recorded at various locales in Norway, Sweden and L.A., “Love Conquers All” is testimony to the notion that less is more, especially when an artist has the nerve to bare exposed nerves.
