That new Gateway Drugs song is titled “Fridays Are for Suckers,” and I can’t help but think it’s in some way a reply to that song by the Cure that has popped into my head every damned Friday for the past 22 years. Which is a roundabout way of inviting you to tune in to the Buzz Bands LA Show today, Friday, on The Independent FM. Starting at 11 a.m., I’ll have new music from Gateway Drugs (because it’s Friday), Cary Brothers, Dengue Fever, Los Angeles Police Department, The Electric West, Gliss, Frogtown, Rough Church and Human Brother, along with songs from a batch of artists playing the Chinese New Year Festival in Chinatown on Feb. 21. You’re gonna like the way it sounds.
