It’s Christmas Eve, so …
L.A. husband-and-wife duo Loch & Key have given the holiday chestnut “Blue Christmas” an in-front-of-the-fireplace touch. The tune, written by Billy Hayes and Jay W. Johnson and famously performed by Elvis Presley on “Elvis’ Christmas Album,” released 60 years ago this part October.
Earlier this year, Loch & Key — Sean Hoffman and Leyla Akdogan Hoffman — released “Slow Fade,” their first album in seven years. It marked a return to the Hoffmans’ explorations in light-as-a-feather folk-pop after a period in which Sean (ex-American Music Club, Bedroom Walls) produced and played with other L.A. artists and Leyla finished law school while continuing her career as a visual artist.
Kip Boardman lends his talents to the cover of “Blue Christmas,” which is available for free download below, along with the duo’s DIY video for the song.
