Director Aaron Brown’s video for Wild Child’s “Follow Me” was filmed in an abandoned mercury mine in Terlinguia, Texas, on the Mexican border. “It was dangerous because mercury is flammable and open flames in mines are generally forbidden,” Brown explains. “Our guide assured us as long as Kelsey kept the flame low, we would be fine. The mine opened into a big cavernous room and our camera guy was walking backward and almost fell into an 80-foot-deep hole in the cave.”
Yes, it’s a true test of the imperative in the song title, but nobody was hurt. In fact, the Austin seven-piece continues touring in support of their fourth album, “Expectations” — a three-month journey that winds down in L.A. tonight. The album is full of heartfelt folk-pop earworms that bob between acoustic and electronic. The album saw the band working with a host of producers, including Matthew Logan Vasquez of Delta Spirit (on “Back and Forth”), Chris Walla and Max Frost.
