News bits: Death Cab for Cutie, Thom Yorke, Echo and the Bunnymen, Kaya Fest

A few concert announcements coming at us fast and furious:
► With a brand new album, “Thank You for Today,” set for release on Friday, Death Cab for Cutie have just announced a special intimate show at Hollywood Forever Cemetery’s Fairbanks Lawn on September 28, with Charlie Bliss opening. Tickets ($59.50) go on sale here at 10 a.m. Friday.
► Thom Yorke will return to L.A. to play an entire retrospective of his solo material (including “The Eraser,” “Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes” and Atoms For Peace’s “Amok”) at the Orpheum Theatre on Dec. 19 and 20, accompanied by producer Nigel Godrich and visual artist Tarik Barri. Oliver Coates will open. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday for Dec. 19 and Dec. 20. Presale tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Thursday with the password BACK2SCHOOL.
► First wave alternative Brit rockers Echo and the Bunnymen have also announced a show at the Cathedral Sanctuary at Immanuel Presbyterian Church on Dec. 4, promoting their new release of 13 reimagined classics plus two new songs. The collection, titled “The Stars, the Oceans & the Moon” (stream “Seven Seas”) will be released on Oct. 5. Tickets for Dec. 4 go on sale here at 10 a.m. Friday.
► Save the date: Kaya Fest, which brought Ms. Lauryn Hill, Cypress Hill and a lot of Marleys (Stephen, Ziggy, Damian, Julian and Ky-Mani) to the NOS Events Center in San Bernardino last April, will return next year. According to the Kaya Fest website, the dates are April 6-7 at Village Green Park in Garden Grove.
