The music of goth-pop siren Ciscandra Nostalghia has a way of cutting to the bone, either via the Iranian-American singer’s shape-shifting vocals or her incisive lyrics. Both conspire to plumb the depths of emotion on “Kingdom of Disturb,” the latest song from Nostalghia, the singer’s duo with multi-instrumentalist Roy Gnan.

The tune is the second single from Nostalghia’s sophomore album “Imago,” which comes out Friday. It’s the follow-up to 2014’s “Chrysalis” and the latest dark drama from an artist whose music has appeared in “John Wick,” “John Wick Chapter 2” (in which she had a cameo), “How to Get Away With Murder” and “The Following,” among others.

Speaking of drama, it doesn’t come with more pathos than in director Shaun Peterson’s video for “Kingdom of Disturb.” Angela Nicholas and Glen Baggerly give brilliant turns as a star-crossed couple, adding even more life to Nostalghia’s lyrical imagery: “He tastes like whiskey and regret / My lips of gin and sweet salvation.” As the story arrives at its aching denouement, Nostalghia’s chorus rings even truer: “In fever dreams / he holds me / Fever dreams / destroy me.”
